A TECHNICAL WARNING FOR THOSE PEOPLE THINKING ABOUT INSURANCE CLAIMS
Once upon a time, a long time ago, if you had a minor incident or minor disaster at home, you would look forward to the opportunity to ‘Get One Over’ your supplier of home insurance. The thought of a slightly inflated claim made paying the Insurance seem worth while. But those days are gone.
There are some things to take into consideration before you call and claim…
Recorded –
I worked for a business that supplied search software to businesses. Some bright spark came up with the idea that if combined with voice recognition software, all digitally recorded phone calls could be stored, converted to text and included in a search. All large insurance businesses are now amongst their clients.
All phone calls to your insurance company are being recorded, being converted to text and stored on file. Everything you say may be used in evidence against you.
SI-FI Technology.
The claims department has also probably invested in voice stress analysis software. This little piece of Techno Trickery is set to monitor the levels of stress in the human voice and will warn the operator if it reaches a predefined level. It will also appear on your personal record.
Obviously this is only a tool and does not guarantee anything. If you just broke your wife’s / husband’s most treasured possession, your going to be a little stressed on the phone.
But this electronic tool forms another part of the Insurance Industries weaponry to combat fraud. It has reduced many a claim from the fantastic back to the realistic.
For example, I recently suffered a terrible loss – My Van Gogh fell off the wall and knocked the Faberge Egg of the shelf. More-Than have kindly replaced this with a print from Athena and the latest model from Kinder.
